She just gets better every album.
Taeyeon, You Did It Again!
Taeyeon is what I like to call the “Gravity” that pull you in! Her atmosphere, aesthetic, passion, charisma, and overall emotion is poured into this album called “Purpose”. She will live on, she will work hard, and find her spark. Her voice, her purpose will never disappoint. SHE IS THAT QUEEN!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Warmed to it

It took me a few listens to really get excited about this album but it's really impressive. Her voice is always stellar and all of the songs are solid. My favorite track is Do You Love Me.
King never disappoints
A new style again! This is time is a mix of rock ballad and rock pop... (I think) . Got mix feelings. But the album takes you through a roller coaster (if you listen to it in order).
First with a heartache powerful ballad (I don’t speak Korean) Here I Am. Tension builds up in the second verse and her vocal flies with some “oh” and goes back to soft.
In the second song Spark, the song is fun to listen since she sings sharp enunciation. The “ho” flows into the chorus like water, brainwashing your brain. The song is also very empowering with hums in the background and a strong beat.
Find Me, the third song is back to a ballad. This one I have some mix feelings. The melody is hard to catch during the first verse and bridge during my first listen. But her vocal is soothing yet hard, very versatile.
The fourth song, Love Me Like Crazy is a song with strong piano chords with distinctive percussions. Unlike Spark, the song is slow but still shows powers with Taeyeon’s way of pronouncing her words, staccato in her notes during the verses and bridges, however during her chorus she tends to drag the notes longer than needed.
LOL is such a weird title but the song is my FAVORITE. The mysterious start of song let’s you wonder where is this gonna lead to? Then the bridge starts with Taeyeon’s sighing a couple of “ha”. Then the beat starts to build up tension and her voice in the end ends with a soft note leading back to her soft sighing. The band solos in the background is my favorite parts. Hard to determine the genre. And the overall structure of song is very unique.
Better Babe is the next song, which is actually my least favorite. Simply because of the chorus part. My personal opinion is that her voice does not suit that type of chorus, the repetitiveness of “better babe” and the lack of variety in her voice during the chorus bored me.
So moving on to Wine, the song is just beautiful. And Taeyeon’s technique at the end of chorus where she repeats the same three notes for many times is just a highlight.
Do you love me? A rush of love sensations was what I felt when I heard this song. With a piano and some jazzy percussion Taeyeon sang this song with gentle and care. As if an insecure lover was asking their partner the question “do you love me?” My second favorite.
City Love, umm hard to decide my opinion. It definitely started off with an unexpected start. The melody really contrasts to the instrumentals. The bridge seems pretty quirky to me but then the chorus seems kind of simple and plain to me while the back ground music is catching my attention. Definitely won’t listen on repeat.
Gravity is a masterpiece. Sometimes the percussion or heavy piano chords strengths the vocal of the singer but in this song Taeyeon’s strong vocal is shown with soft piano chords and one strong hit of the drum per measure in the background which means she is not really relying on any instruments to hold up her voice. I could imagine the heavy drum dropping the song but Taeyeon’s high notes is raising the song up.
Overall, there are some songs that I listen with distaste simply because of my own taste in music. But Taeyeon doesn’t disappoint with some of the songs such as Here I Am, Do you love me? Gravity, Spark, Love me like crazy and LOL.
queen taeyeon!!! you can hear her emotion on every song on this album and it’s amazing!!! better babe, wine, and love you like crazy are my favorites!!
Best voice on the planet!

All songs are top quality production and consistent throughout. Kim Taeyeon’s voice has never been better and adds more nuances to her toolbox of vocal technics, especially on backing vocals. Everyone involved on this project should be very proud.
